Metallica were involved in two of the more memorable slip-ups during yesterday’s Grammys: their performance with Lady Gaga where nobody figured it’d be a good idea to turn James Hetfield’s microphone on, and the moment when the house band accidentally played their classic ‘Master Of Puppets’ while Megadeth won the Best Metal Performance category.

The screw-up stings extra hard for Dave Mustaine considering he was fired from Metallica in 1983 and has held a grudge ever since. He was booted from the band for substance abuse and anger issues, both of which we’d have assumed were a prerequisite for joining Metallica, but clearly not.

Mustaine, to his credit, doesn’t really react to the moment – it’s his first Grammy, too, so major props for the lack of anger issues.
