Julien Baker’s intimate show at the Northcote Social Club last year was, without a doubt, one of the best live gigs I’ve ever witnessed.

The 20-year-old Memphis singer wowed the hushed room with devastating honesty and genuinely stunning vocals and guitar work – not to mention her disarming banter between tracks to keep the mood from drifting too deeply into melancholy.

Now, with a Splendour appearance on the cards and her wonderful album Funeral Pyre at the ready, she’s playing a string of Australian sideshows, kicking off this weekend. The dates are below, and I would strongly recommend getting to whichever one you possibly can.
