While the Internet is amazing for reading, reacting, furiously typing, and then forgetting, the slow death of traditional news media has brought about the end of one of the bastions of free speech: the Letters to the Editor section.

We have noticed that in the past few months our comments section has increasingly become filled with strong, varied opinions and interesting discussions, and that a lot of these are articulately stated, respectful of other viewpoints, and knowledgeable. (There are a lot of idiots, too, but you can’t have everything.)

We’d like to expand these community discussions and allow some of our most vocal readers to express themselves in a longer form.

Introducing our Letters To The Editor section.

Whether you wish to add to an already existing conversation, refute anything we have published, or simply publish that long-held conspiracy theory about how Freddie Mercury faked his death and is now living in the Bahamas, we now have the perfect platform for you.

This is not a forum for promoting your mate’s shitty band, or for any type of hate speech, unless it’s about that album Metallica did with Lou Reed – in which case we’ll let it pass. Hopefully this is the start of a long and interesting conversation.
