Record companies may be losing a fortune, EMI may be about to be broken up, but relax – Jay-Z knows what they need to do.

Speaking to the BBC, the rapper offered his advice: “Records are not selling as many as they were before and you’ve still got to go out and pay the Bentley bill … people have to be smarter about how they A&R, and what they put out, record companies need to catch up to that, someone needs to send them the memo.” We hope that Guy Hands – who bought a lemon and is trying to avoid his investment in EMI going down the toilet – is paying attention.
