Ever since Jet returned to play together again for the first time in six years, we’ve been wondering what new music from the band might sound like, and while there are currently no plans to record a new Jet album, frontman Nic Cester announced his plans to give us the next best thing.

With his debut solo album on the way, and headline shows coming up in Sydney and Melbourne later this month, as well as an appearance at Bluesfest this week, Cester has just given us a glimpse of the type of sound we can expect from his new project.

Having spent a few years living in Europe, Cester put together a backing band with musicians he met in Italy, The Milano Elettrica, promising a bit of a departure from Jet’s straight-ahead rock stylings, and now we have the first snippets of what that actually sounds like, with new clips posted on socials over the past couple of days revealing a darker groove than most of his work with his high-school band.

The record is on its way later this year, but you can catch Nic playing in Melbourne on April 19 and 20 with the awesome Olympia also performing a solo set (the latter is sold out), and then finishing up in Sydney on the 21st.
