Two Aussie icons are set to join forces soon, with the news that legendary pub rocker Jimmy Barnes is teaming up with the equally-beloved kids group The Wiggles for a brand new record.

At first it might seem like a strange combination, but it actually makes a lot of sense. The Wiggles have been no strangers to raunchy over-18s pub shows of late, while Barnesy has made a stack of albums with his own kids under the name The Tin Lids, so we think this just might work.

With a distinctly Scottish twist to it, Och Aye The G’Nu will be both an album and a kids book of the same name, and will feature the new Wiggles cast, as well as classic blue Wiggle Anthony and purple narcoleptic Jeff.

Och Aye the G’Nu was written for my grandchildren, especially my cheeky little red headed Scot,” Barnesy told Newscorp. “Glasgow holds a special place in my heart and it was also inspired by my love of Scotland.”

“The songs on Och Aye the G’Nu are absolutely beautiful, they come from Jimmy’s heart,” says an effusive Anthony Field. “There’s also a great sense of fun, perfect for the young listener. Every morning we’d come into the studio and be so excited, we knew we were working on a very special project for children. It was one of the greatest experiences working with Jimmy.”

“It has been such an honour and a pleasure to work with my old friends The Wiggles, on this project,” Barnes adds, with an unintentional pun. “[Anthony] is the best in the world in this field and he guided me through this project every step of the way. We had a lot of fun doing it too.

Och Aye the G’Nu is out March 31 through ABC/Universal Music, with the book following on April 1 through Five Mile Press.
