As announced yesterday, the socially unaware, meat-pie eating, footy loving barbarians at Triple M are plotting to usher the country into the previous millennium with their ‘Ozzest 100’. The countdown is set to counteract the “hipsters or kids making music on a Mac” that supposedly dominate the Hottest 100, as well as reclaim a soundtrack for January 26th. It was revealed just under a month ago that 60% of voters were in favour of date change, with increasing debate surrounding how the date acts as a reminder of pain for indegenous Australians.

“It should be an event that everyone can enjoy together – for both the musicians whose songs make it in and for everyone listening in Australia and around the world. This is really important to us.” Triple M seem to have missed the memo that music should act as a symbol of togetherness but hey, if they can stomach their sausages without a care in the world, good luck to ’em!

Now, beacons of hope, A.B Original have cooked up a plan to ensure the ‘rednecks’ over at the station have their fun ruined and their sing-a-longs to ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’ spoiled by having fans vote the song, ‘January 26’ into the countdown.

‘January 26’ came in at number 16 on this year’s hottest 100, which was announced on Australia Day. This year, the countdown will take place on January 27th, after a public vote placing the day in favour of January 26th which marked a huge progression in the recognition of Australia Day’s insensitivity to our indigenous communities.
