Since the release of last year’s debut EP Willoughby’s Beach, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have been pretty busy. The 7 piece opened Meredith Music Festival and won a plum slot at Melbourne’s Big Day Out. Just recently the band were invaded on stage during their Warrandyte Festival performance and from all reports they killed it when supporting Girl Talk earlier this year. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are well and truly gaining a reputation as one of the country’s most exciting live acts.

During mid March the band once again teamed up with Melbourne Producer Paul Maybury to start work on their debut album in Paul’s warehouse studio. Rising from the sessions is a new song ‘Bloody Ripper’ and its b-side ‘Sam Cherry’s Last Shot’, narrated by The Dingoes singer, Broderick Smith. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard approached their new material for the first time as a solid 7 member collaboration, resulting in a whole heap of exciting new sounds. ‘Bloody Ripper’ is a good indication of what to expect from the band’s album, due for release later this year.

In celebration of ‘Bloody Ripper’ King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will be hitting the road this April/May playing at some of their favourite venues.
