Swedish duo The Knife might have broken up back in 2014, but a series of cryptic videos posted to their social media accounts have got fans questioning if the group are set to return.

As NME reports, The Knife, made up of Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer, have become active on their social media accounts once again, updating their profile picture and sharing strange videos that have to be seen to be believed.

Last Thursday saw The Knife return to Facebook, as they shared two videos. The first video showed a gummy cherry being cut in half with a large knife, while the second took the form of an avant-garde cooking show, titled Mother Of Knives Cooking Class. Check out the first two videos below.

While these videos alone were enough to spark rumours of a reunion by The Knife, the duo have now shared yet another video. This time, we see a masked pair partake in some knife-throwing, while some unsettling, reversed speech plays along in the background, somehow making this whole scenario appear even creepier than it already is.

The Knife were an enigmatic outfit from the get-go. Following their origin in 1999, they refused to play any live shows until 2005, and when they did, the shows featured the groups in strange outfits, not dissimilar to what was shown in the above videos. The group’s most recent record, Shaking The Habitual, was released in just one year before their breakup in 2014, after fans had spent a full seven years waiting.

While we’re not quite sure if this is the lead-up to a reunion or not, we’re definitely somewhat creeped out by these videos. The very fact that The Knife have become active again on social media points toward something being up, but at this stage, we’ll just have to wait and see what that might be.

Check out The Knife’s most well-known song, ‘Heartbeats’, which was made famous thanks to acoustic cover by José González, below.
