Laneway Festival 2017 is just around the corner and as punters count the sleeps until the big day, one of the eagerly anticipated international acts has unfortunately been forced to pull out.

Taking to their official Instagram channel, New York outfit The Julie Ruin, one of the many strings on Bikini Kill and Le Tigre frontwoman Kathleen Hanna’s bow, have sadly announced their cancellation.

“We regretfully announce that we will be unable to perform at the Laneway Festival next year,” they write, citing a medical situation involving their guitarist which prevents them from travelling.

“Our guitarist has an unanticipated and unavoidable medical conflict at the time that will make it impossible for us to travel in January and February, so it is with sadness that we have had to cancel,” they add.

According to Laneway, organisers are currently working on a replacement which should be announced shortly. Meanwhile, the news comes just days after Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker revealed Laneway would be the band’s last shows for a while.

Apologies to our fans in Australia. We will be back. xoTJR
