Fresh from blowing audiences away with their Splendour In The Grass performance, and their sideshows, LCD Soundsystem have revealed the artwork for their upcoming album American Dream, and fans are… not fond of it, to put it nicely.

Having previously performed new songs from their long-awaited album at recent shows, LCD Soundsystem revealed the album artwork for their new record yesterday. As Stereogum reports, they also took the opportunity to show off the album artwork at Lollapalooza by painting the cover onto an ice cream truck, which in addition to delivering ice cream to concertgoers, was also “previewing the album but in the form of ice cream jingles.”

Unfortunately though, fans of the band aren’t really fans of the artwork, with many taking to Twitter to deride it. “The cover of the new LCD Soundsystem album is so bad I genuinely contemplated cancelling my vinyl preorder,” wrote one fan. “So you think Kasabian have the worst album cover the year but then, oh no, LCD Soundsystem.,” “New LCD Soundsystem album cover art looks like a preset Powerpoint title slide,” and “LCD Soundsystem more like Lazily Designed Cover Art Soundsystem,” wrote others.

LCD Soundsystem’s American Dream is due for release on September 1st. Check out the album’s single ‘Call The Police’ below.
