Liam Gallagher has spent the last few years antagonising his brother via press quotes, Twitter and any other medium at his disposal, so it came as some surprise that Liam sent a brief, sweet tweet on Noel’s 50th birthday earlier this week, wishing Noel a happy 50th, and quoting an Oasis song title.

Yesterday morning Liam explained his motivation on a UK radio show. “Well me mam did tell me to do it. Nah she didn’t. I swear to God she didn’t,” Liam joked.

“Nah, I just woke up, you know with all the stuff that went on in Manchester, I woke up and I just thought: ‘You know what? You know I’m going there. Happy Birthday.

Of course, it couldn’t stay sweet for too long.

“And plus, I wanted to remind everyone he’s an old fart now. You know, the old 1.6m followers. There were people going, like: ‘What? he’s 50?’ I was, like: ‘Indeed. Yes he is.’

“But you know, I did mean it. He’s my brother, man, and I love him. As much as we get into all the tittle and tattle and that, you know, I wish him well, man.”

Awww, this is quite nice, and may be the first real sign that an Oasis reunion isn’t a complete impossibility. Check out Liam’s new single, below.
