As The Libertines’ frontman and frequent incoherent mess Pete Doherty once put, “Noel is a poet, and Liam is a town crier – a perfect combination” – and that’s pretty evident not only in the brotherly duo’s respective outputs both in Oasis and the outfits that followed, but also in the various quips we’ve heard from them throughout the years.

While Noel is one of the most quoted musicians walking the planet, always with a snarky but genuinely amusing barb at the ready, his brother isn’t quite as much of a wordsmith. Never has that been more evident than in Liam’s recent series of tweets which, while apparently announcing new music from his own project, did so in the most nonsensical way imaginable. We know Twitter is a platform prone to word-vomit, but damn Liam – er, sorry, ‘LFUKING’.

Anyway, as reported by NME, there may be some lyrics dotted among the madness here, and there’s certainly the promise of new music from the singer, who takes a shot at his brother’s post-Oasis band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. It’ll be the first music we’ve heard from the former Oasis frontman since he ditched his former band Beady Eye, which also included a couple of former Oasis members, back in 2014.

NME add that The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft may have had a hand in Liam’s new live band, and that the sound will hark back to Oasis at their most grandiose. Without Noel there to join in the writing sessions, whether or not Liam can deliver on that lofty ambition remains to be seen.
