Now that Prince’s music has been allowed onto streaming services, Tool are one of the most prominent holdouts against the platforms, not appearing on Spotify or Apple Music, or even for download on iTunes.

But, with their first album in over a decade apparently coming together as we speak, a report from Bloomberg indicates that the band are in talks to work out a deal with the streaming services, making not only their new album but also their entire back catalogue available online for the first time.

Both the band and the streaming services declined to comment, and Bloomberg’s sources have asked not to be identified, but it would make a lot of sense for Maynard and Co. to allow their new album the benefit of a launch across digital platforms.

While we’re still unsure of the release date for the album, it’s been confirmed that Maynard has begun recording for the record, so it can’t be more than a year or ten away, surely. With reports that the shortest track on the record is a casual 12 minutes long, we get why they may be taking their time.

Until then, you can listen to half an hour of unreleased Tool music and demos right here.
