One of Melbourne’s most iconic music venues, The Corner is often the place for international artists to head to when they visit the city, but now they’re also taking care of the opposite end of the spectrum too, with a series of free acoustic gigs by local artists each and every week.

Sundays from 4pm will see ‘Corner Unplugged’ invite Melbourne’s emerging performers into the cosy front bar for a “back to basics” afternoon of acoustic music, positioned as a perfect hangover cure or post-footy kick-on.

The full list of acts playing the first month can be checked out on the website, and if you’re in a band and would like to get involved, you can shoot an email through to the venue staff at [email protected] and let them know you’re keen.

Meanwhile, Sydney is running its own series of acoustic gigs, but the difference is that they’ll be taking place atop the Sydney Harbour Bridge. If you’re feeling like a brisk climb, fair enough, but a stroll down to a pub in Richmond will be more the pace for a lot of us I think.
