The ongoing rivalry plaguing Sydney and Melbourne’s always rocky relationship is founded upon which city is home to the superior music scene.

In a partnership with Songkick, the good people over at Expedia, have tracked down a definitive list of the world’s best cities for live music. Sydneysiders, if you’re keen to see your luscious harbour and over-crowded beaches pop up on the list, you may be a little disappointed. Melbourne has come in strong at as the world’s 15th best location for live music (pretty huge considering our relatively tiny population…) with a massive 3,127 gigs a year.

Unsurprisingly, London came in at number 1 with a staggering 11,923 gigs and the US as a nation is championing live music like no other 179,585
