A Melbourne shop owner has reached out to rap superstar Kanye West in an attempt to recoup thousands of dollars in losses after his The Life of Pablo pop-up store caused something of a shopping hysteria but had the opposite effect on his business.

As Nine News reports, undreds of people lined up along Fitzroy’s Brunswick Street in an attempt to get their hands on West’s latest Yeezus-emblazoned T-shirts, hoodies, and jackets.

Charlotte Knightley, the local boutique shop owner in question, posted on West’s official Facebook page claiming the pop-up store had directly left her at least $6,000 out of pocket.

Ms. Knightley took aim at West’s consumer base who were “Swear(ing) at my little old lady customers”. Ms. Knightley went on to claim that her customers were “too intimidated” to brave West’s crowds and enter her store.

The shop owner has asked West to write her out a check, or failing that, to have his wife do it for him. “I know you’re a little in debt but maybe your wife could swing you the $6k,” she wrote, tongue no doubt firmly in cheek.

The post has received well over 4,000 likes and more than 200 comments, ranging from support to simply mocking the storeowner: “I can’t believe you wasted your time and wrote this on his Facebook page.”

Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo pop-up shop has since closed after reportedly selling all its stock.
