Our last Saturday winter mixtape! With spring in mind we bring you a some fresh new tracks this week from Melbourne’s Twerps, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Slow Chase, Founds, Blonde on Blonde and lets not forget good old rockers Areosmith!

Twerps – He’s In Stock

Along with their healthy looking festival schedule (New York’s CMJ, Melbourne Music Week and Meredith) Twerps now have some new tunes to go with those new dates; including this short-and-sharp B-sdie to an upcoming Vinyl single.
I get my drugs dropped off now, she don’t stop/my mother’s giving me the shits non-stop,she don’t drop” – from its brazen opening couplet, ‘He’s In Stock’ rolls with a slacker swagger that’s dripping in rough charm and melodic simplicity.

Melody’s Echo Chamber – Cyrstallized

Based in Paris, France; Oxford, Mississipi and Perth, Melody Prochet aka Melody’s Echo Chamber is doing some incredibly interesting things in music and is giving psych-rock a good name again. Her latest track ‘Crystalized’ was produced by fellow Perth-er and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker. In a match made in psychedelic heaven, these two have created a great track that mixes 60s guitar shred with airy vocals.  It’s refreshing to see a woman put her own spin on this usually male-centric genre. Here’s hoping for may more collaborations between Prochet and Parker.

Slow Chase – Algernon

Slow Chase have created a track that conjures many memories – summer sun, festivals, road trips. The fun natured, energetic feel to ‘Algernon’ makes for nothing but enjoyable listening. The tune is part of their debut record, The Blind Spot EP.

Founds – Caves

‘Caves’ is the latest single released by Brisbane-based seven-piece Founds. After getting a lot of love from triple J for their previous single ‘Avalanches’, the band have returned with another airy, electronic and harmony-heavy track. With a stellar drum beat, and some very of-the-moment guitar progressions, ‘Caves’ is a good indication that Founds as a band are a refreshing and welcome addition to the Brisbane music scene. Check out this latest single which if off their upcoming album Hadean due to drop on September 7th.

Blonde On Blonde – Act 1

The brand new single ‘Act 1’ from Brisbane 5-piece Blonde On Blonde is a definite catchy rock tune.  It starts with a hypnotic guitar riff that continues all the way through the track which is mixed nicely with a muddy early 90’s vocal killer, all held together by an energetic drum beat. It’s clear why these guys were picked as the QLD support for Inxs back in July and were given the chance to showcase at Musexpo over in LA.

Aerosmith – Lover Alot

It’s kind of hard to believe it’s been eight years since Aerosmith last released an album, 2004’s Honkin’ on Bobo, an album that wore on its sleeve the American band’s blues influences. Even harder to believe it’s been 11 years since their last album of original material. Now eight years later the band are staging a comeback, with the release of the second taste of their forthcoming 15th studio album, Music From Another Dimension!. Following on from the infectious lead single ‘Legendary Child’ release a few months ago, ‘Lovers Alot’ is a high-energy single that is unashamedly bluesy rock n’ roll, and fares well against the group’s popular back-catalogue.
