If you prefer your rock with a much more theatrical and emotional lean to it, then there’s every chance that you’re a fan of Scotland’s Mogwai. If that is indeed the case, then you’re going to have to make sure you tune in to the ABC next week, as the band have been locked in as the next guest-hosts on Rage.

Taking to Facebook yesterday, a few days earlier than Rage usually announces the guest-hosts themselves, the influential post-rock group announced that next week’s episode of Rage will be hosted by Stuart Braithwaite and Dominic Aitchison.

Usually, whenever Rage announced the host of the show, they’ll also provide a little list of artists to indicate what you might be hearing on Saturday night. However, since the group were a little premature with their announcement, we’re now left wondering what exactly will be played on the night.

However, if we’re to look at the group’s playlist from the last time they hosted Rage, back in 2002, we can see that we might be treated to acts such as The Jesus & Mary Chain, Cat Power, Sonic Youth, Aphex Twin, Pixies, and even some music by fellow Scots, Belle & Sebastian.

As one fan in the Facebook post’s comments noted, this special was most likely filmed while the group were in Australia back in June for a one-off performance at Hobart’s Dark Mofo festival. However, considering that these performances are usually aired only a matter of weeks after filming, it seems as though this one was being held back until the group released their newest record, Every Country’s Sun, which came out at the start of the month.

Mogwai program Rage on Saturday, September 23rd at 10am, and 11:50pm, but while we wait to see what the group has chosen, let’s take a listen to one of their track’s that should definitely make the cut, 1999’s ‘Rage: Man’.
