The planned release of an EP to mark the one-year anniversary of Prince’s passing was unceremoniously blocked at the 11th hour, as the late artist’s estate filed a lawsuit to stop the tracks from being released.

While Prince used to strictly guard his trove of music, the reasons for the block seem to have been motivated by a more sinister reason: Prince’s family are planning a reality show about their lives, and plan to release the music in conjunction with that.

Newsweek state that a production team is attached to the project, which will show how the family has coped since the passing of Prince – mainly by squabbling over his unreleased music.

Hopefully this heinous mess will never see the light of day.
