As previously reported,  British folkies Mumford And Sons had let slip that they’d be teaming up with American trekkers Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros for a nationwide tour before the end of the year.

Now the two groups, beloved here in Australia, have confirmed the official dates of their co-headlining tour – and they’re brining US singer/songwriter Willy Mason along for the ride.

Heading back down under on their first shows since Splendour In The Grass 2010, Mumford And Sons will be spearheading the Australian tour that sees the alt-folk quartet playing some of the country’s biggest venues, from Perth to Melbourne and everywhere in between.

In addition to the ten-date, nation-wide arena tour – Mumford and Sons have also hinted that there’ll be an additional ‘extra special’ as part of their ongoing ‘Gentlemen of the Road’ concert series; with details to be announced soon. But fans might expect a one-day festival in the vein of the American and Europe shows that have seen the bands curating an event that includes local arts and businesses in order to “celebrate the local people, food and music.”

Likening the experience to a ‘Victorian travelling circus’, they add, “We’re keen to promote the town’s local businesses, and we’ll be using the local bars and venues for after-show parties, whilst working closely with the local people to get everyone involved in making these shows spectacular.”

The band are no strangers to unique touring schedules. Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros previously teamed up, along with the Old Crow Medicine Show, for a six-date concert tour through America’s Southwest for the ‘Railroad Revival Tour.’ The tour announcement follows reports that Mumford and Sons are set to release a new studio album before the end of the year.
