15 years ago, mentioning Neil deGrasse Tyson and Tom DeLonge in the same sentence would’ve seemed like a total mistake. However, now Tom DeLonge has put aside the dick jokes and dived into the depths of the universe and its truths and myths, having one of the world’s most respected scientists comment on your work doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch.

In a recent interview with CNN, Neil deGrasse Tyson has commented on Tom’ DeLonge’s recent UFO claims and footage, saying it’s highly ‘non-specific’.

“UFO means unidentified flying object,” said deGrasse,“this is a highly nonspecific term. It’s so nonspecific that you don’t know what you’re looking at.”

He went on to question and delegitimize DeLonge’s claims saying that “Just because you don’t know what you’re looking at doesn’t mean it’s an intelligent alien visiting from another planet”

“The universe brims with mysteries. You just said you don’t know what you’re looking at! You cannot, as a next sentence say, therefore, it must be anything.” Has he ever listened to ‘Aliens Exist’? Seems pretty legit to us….

deGrasse also pondered on the idea that the only reason the public have become invested in DeLonge’s most recent claims is because “the Pentagon and $22 million” were involved, noting that $22 million over 5 years wouldn’t make a dent in the Pentagon’s huge budget.

“The evidence is so paltry for aliens to visit earth, I have no further interest. Let other people who care, go ahead, and when you find some aliens, bring them into Times Square,” he jokes. Watch the entire interview below:
