Neil Young has had a rather busy 2017 when you look at it. While the folk-rock legend never got around to touring Australia like he had planned to, he managed to make up for it somewhat with the release of an online archive of unheard music, and the release of his long lost 1976 record Hitchhiker. Now, the famed muso has announced that he is set to release his 39th record in December.

As Rolling Stone reports, Neil Young is set to drop The Visitor, with Promise Of The Real on December 1st.

Having teamed up with Promise Of The Real for 2015’s The Monsanto Years, and releasing the live record Earth in 2016, Neil Young is already rather familiar with the band, which is fronted by Lukas Nelson, son of country legend Willie Nelson.

Neil Young has also shared the record’s first single, ‘Already Great’, in anticipation of its release. As Rolling Stone notes, the song is being seen as a rather tongue-in-cheek attack on US President Donald Trump and his now-infamous campaign slogan.

2015’s The Monsanto Years was seen as a rather scathing attack on the US company Monsanto and their genetic modification of food, so it seems as though we might be able to expect another record focused around highly-political lyrics.

Of course, Young is no stranger to dipping his toe in the pool of politics recently, having attacked Donald Trump for his policies, and denying the US President the use of Young’s ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’ for his 2016 political campaign.
