The ever-enigmatic frontman of both Tool and A Perfect Circle, Maynard James Keenan, has delivered a typically elusive message which has seen him hint at new music coming from A Perfect Circle.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, Maynard wrote a rather simple message in which he stated he was taking a break from his Caduceus Cellars winery in order to work on rehearsals for A Perfect Circle’s upcoming tour, which will include new music. Maynard signed off by using the hashtag ‘#apc2018’, which we’re taking as a pretty significant indicator that something substantial is happening next year.

Of course, we’re inclined to take this message with a grain of salt, considering that we heard last year the band was working on new music for a 2017 release. Then, in January of this year, guitarist Billy Howerdel stated the band had “every intention” of releasing a record in 2017.

“We’re not promising anything, but I have every intention of doing my best to have us playing some new tracks during this run — with the idea that new music is coming very soon after,” Howerdel told Billboard last year. While some lucky fans did indeed receive a tour, the band currently only has dates listed until the start of December. This of course leaves 2018 wide open for the band to polish off some tracks for their fourth album.

As it stands, A Perfect Circle haven’t released a studio album since 2004’s Emotive, which was largely comprised of cover songs. However, the band have released a live album, a greatest hits compilation, and a new single in the meantime.

Needless to say, it’s not exactly unusual for Maynard James Keenan and his bandmates to keep fans waiting, but we’ll certainly take any new music any time he’s ready to deliver it to us. (And if a tour by either Tool or A Perfect Circle comes our way as well, we certainly won’t complain.)
