Following the surprise news that she was recording new material and plotting a return to music, Lily Allen has wowed fans again with an unannounced cameo at a Stone Roses gig in Manchester.

NME reports that Allen, made a surprise appearance onstage during Professor Green’s support slot at the Stone Roses’ second show at Manchester’s Heaton Park on Saturday 30th June.

Allen was fulfilling her vocal role from Professor Green’s 2010 single, “Just Be Good To Green.” The Hackney rapper’s reworking of Beat International’s ‘Dub Be Good To Me’ (itself influenced by SOS Band’s original “Just Be Good To Me”). The not-so-former pop sensation made her way on stage, complete in an official red-printed Stone Roses shirt, following Green’s performance of “I Need You Tonight.”

“Manchester!” Green addressed the audience, “make some noise for Lily Allen!”, the amassed crowd responding in a suitably delighted eruption.

Ever the cheeky sort, Allen took to her twitter following her surprise appearance with Professor Green, and joked:

Allen’s unexpected comeback was the 27-year-old singer’s first official live performance in almost two years. Her last being in September 2010, supporting Muse at Wembley Stadium, before turning to focus on her business pursuits and on raising a family with husband Sam Cooper.

For anyone who saw the TV miniseries Rags To Riches knows, in the two years since her ‘retirement’ from the music industry she managed to launch her own fashion rental shop with her sister Sarah, got marriedsuffered a misscarriage, and even start her own record label (In The Name Of).

Last week however, Allen confirmed she was back in the studio with It’s Not Me, It’s You producer Greg Kurstin, saying they were “just throwing shit at the wall and seeing if anything stick… It’s no big deal really.”

In related news, it seems The Stone Roses are officially back to business as usual for their reunion tour following an ‘interesting’ ending to a recent Amsterdam gig in which they failed to perform an encore after drummer, Reni, departed the gig; prompting frontman Ian Brown to take to the stage and tell the crowd “what can I say? The drummer’s a cunt.”

Happy families ey?
