Reports suggest that über sex god Robert Pattinson has been sounding out playing the role of Jeff Buckley in a biopic currently in pre-production. The Twilight star is reportedly very keen to play the part of the tragic troubadour who died in 1997 aged just 30.

According to various UK tabloid rags quoting an unnamed source (most likely his acting agent) “Rob is obsessed with this project and is doing everything he can to land the part. He has already told his business team this is his passion and they agree it could be the film that makes him a legitimate Oscar contender.”

Mary Guibert, the 62 year old mother of Buckley, is quoted as saying “Robert is a fine young actor. I’m flattered he’s been linked to this project. When the time comes we’ll give everybody an opportunity to be seen and heard.” According to the film’s producers; the lead part must be played by someone who can sing and play guitar appropriately.

R-Patz has already contributed several original songs to the Twilight soundtracks, making him a leading contender for the part.
