After revealing that Amy Winehouse’s friends and family’s efforts to set up a charitable foundation in her name had been stymied by a leech registering the name ahead of them, Winehouse’s father Mitch has now been forced to return donations made to the charity set up in his daughter’s honour.

This is because he doesn’t have the rights to the name ‘Amy Winehouse Foundation’ nor is he able to open up a bank account in that name. Mitch Winehouse resorted to Twitter to vent his frustration as his lawyers scrambled to resolve the issue.

He said “Instead of concentrating on allocating funding I am having to send cheques back cos we don’t haven’t got bank ac in that name. Our solicitors are all over this, but it takes time. Meanwhile we can’t get on with foundation.”

His disgust at the person who had squatted on the charity’s name was evident, revealing that the person in question had even been in touch with his daughter’s junkie ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, offering to sell him the name.

Mitch tweeted:

Investigations in to Winehouse’s death are continuing, with autopsy results in coming months hopefully revealing her cause of death after initial results proved inconclusive. This all comes as search engine Google revealed that the words ‘Amy Winehouse dead’ was the most popular search term of the last few months.
