The frontman for The Streets, Mike Skinner, is busy touring the world wrapping up a career that spanned a decade and produced five studio albums. However somehow he’s found the time to start work on a new band he’s forming with Rob Harvey who was previously the vocalist of UK band The Music.

The Music went their separate ways back in August after a successful 10 year career with three albums after Harvey stated that he “…was not enjoying it anymore” and needed “a new challenge”.

New band The D.O.T. has Harvey taking on most of the vocals whilst the usually boisterous rapper Skinner, refines his production skills. Already the pair has been busy recording, having released 14 tracks via their very illusive website, which only contains streams of each of their tracks so far and has no further information about the band.

From listening to the tracks it appears their sound is similar to the hip-hop feel of The Streets with a bit of harder edge thanks to the influence of Harvey’s rock vocals. Skinner has also made time to write the soundtrack to the film, Inbetweener which was released late August, a film version of the popular English sitcom of the same name.

The Streets play their finals shows in November in the UK. Have a listen to the first song from The D.O.T. below.
