Although things appeared to have warmed earlier this week between the notorious Gallagher brothers of Oasis, Noel has rejected his brother Liam’s offer to reunite the band to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Morning Glory in 2015.

In an interview with the BBC, Noel told a reporter, “He’s got my permission to go and play it. He can play it if he wants. I don’t mind. I left that band for a reason and that reason still stands.”

There was speculation that The Stone Roses reformation and the reaction from the public had spurned the brothers put aside their differences and reform their own band. However now it appears Noel and Liam have different takes on it. Noel has revealed to London’s Daily Star that he’s known of the reformation of the Ian Brown fronted band for quite some time but couldn’t tell anyone.

“We’d known for a while and were sworn to secrecy,” he said. “It’s great for the fans and for them and a nice feeling just to see them together after so long. I love them as friends and as a band.”

But Noel is wary of drawing comparisons between Stone Roses and Oasis, saying “They’ve been split for 15 years, we split up 15 minutes ago. We’re all waiting for The Smiths to do it. They say it won’t happen but they said the same about the Roses.”
