Following the flash announcement of The xx’s new album Coexist and their two, balloted Australian shows in July at Melbourne and Sydney, the UK indie trio now have some exciting news for those who missed out on tickets to that pair of exclusive shows. You can now get your fixx with the announcement of solo shows for Jamie xx, again in Melbourne and Sydney

The past two years have been meteoric for Jamie xx, who has earned a name for himself as one of the world’s hottest producers. In 2011 he crafted the underground hit ‘Far Nearer’ and collaborated with Gil Scott-Heron on the album We’re New Here, a re-envisioned version of Scott-Heron’s 2010 masterpiece I’m New HereWe’re New Here features Jamie’s brilliant remixes of ‘NY Is Killing Me’ and ‘I’ll Take Care of U’, which was later reworked by Drake and Rihanna for their worldwide #1 ‘Take Care’.

Jamie xx has also garnered universal praise for his remixes of Adele and Radiohead, and The xx remix of Florence & The Machine’s ‘You’ve Got The Love’ was a massive internet sensation.

Jamie xx (real name Jamie Smith), along with his band mates Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft, formed The xx in 2005 at London’s Elliot School, the alma mater of notable alumni Hot Chip, Burial and Four Tet. Bonding over a shared love of dark, emotive 80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B, The xx’s unique sound befits a band whose wide range of influences combine beautiful, hushed vocal duets and a brilliantly inventive use of samples and low-end frequencies to produce stark, sweet, melancholic pop.

Last week the Mercury Music Prize-winning artists The xx announced the details of their forthcoming sophomore album, Coexist, the band’s first in three years since their self-titled debut. Due this September, Coexist is also produced by Jamie xx
