We already know that nu-folkies Mumford & Sons are headed our way for a ten-date nation-wide tour with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros in October, but now the British troupe have confirmed what they previously hinted at. A special addition to their Australian tour and to their Gentlemen Of The Road concert series, with the announcement this morning of Gentlemen Of The Road (A Camping Stopover) for Dugong, NSW.

A press statement from the band reads: “Mumford & Sons, in conjunction with the teams behind the Laneway Festival and Splendour in The Grass” have put together a “one-day, outdoor event in the historic NSW town [as] part of a global series of GOTR Stopovers, which debuted in the UK this June.” Better get your bags packed and save your pennies.

The concept is essentially a mini-festival in the vein of the American and European incarnations of the concert series that saw Mumford & Sons curating an event that also includes local arts and business in order to – in their own words – “celebrate the local people, food and music;” likening the experience to a ‘Victorian travelling circus’ with the UK four-piece as the ringmasters.

Mumford & Sons will headline the one-day event, joined by tour buddies EDWARD SHARPE & THE MAGNETIC ZEROS. Led by the enigmatic Alexander Ebert, the euphoria-inducing 12 piece collective have been widely praised for their exhilarating live performances and will be no doubt propelling people to all-out singalongs from their new album, Here.

Joining the two international acts will be SARAH BLASKO, performing on the eve of the release of her fourth studio album, rising star MATT CORBY – the 22-year-old being one of the breakout acts of the last twelve monts. Joining them will be Melbourne’s HUSKY, who hold the prestigious claim of being the first ever Australian act signed with seminal US label Sub Pop.

Rounding out the ‘Camping Stop’ will be fellow folkie WILLY MASON, who Mumford & Sons have described as “one of the great songwriters of our generation”; and to make sure the whole she-bang ends with a late-night party folk detox, purveyors of fine (and frenetic) mash-ups: YACHT CLUB DJs

Quite the lineup, but the pretty township of Dugong in the Hunter Region of NSW is a large part of the appeal for this Gentleman Of The Road Stopover. With Craig Deasey, Council General manager helping get the townspeople on board with his “vision and energy”, says the press release; with camping at the event not only available, but encouraged.

The news comes as Mumford & Sons prep their highly-anticipated sophomore album, Babel, due for release on September 21 in Australia through due process. Meaning that Australian audiences will be among the first in the world to hear the new songs live come October; and speaking of news songs – you can check out the brand new single ‘I Will Wait’ after the tour details below.
