With nearly three decades of existence and a universe of sonic textures between them, Silversun Pickups and THE DANDY WARHOLS will form one of the most personality-laden and emotively eclectic indie bills of 2012, taking on stages in Adelaide and Perth, as they co-headline, their only Australian sideshows.

SILVERSUN PICKUPS formed in Los Angeles in 2002. The band, are Brian Aubert, Nikki Monninger, Christopher Guanlao and Joe Lester.

But who cares about facts when it comes to alternative rock? Great alt-rock is about emotion – confusing emotion; drive spurred on by doom, beauty that’s found in the bleak; a road that’s lined with melancholic angst that feels sadistically pleasurable. Silversun Pickups know how it’s done; they’ve constructed a powerful career by keeping listeners in limbo – in the space that exists between agitation and celebration.

But in case you do care about facts…Silversun Pickups released their debut album ‘Carnavas’ in 2006 to critical acclaim, bringing back bombastic melancholy of the kind not seen since 1997 with the album’s big track, ‘Lazy Eye’, becoming a staple on any credible, self-respecting alt rock playlist. ‘Swoon’ saw the band nominated for a Grammy and now in 2012, as the band return to Australia, ‘Neck of the Woods’ has Silversun Pickups cementing their position as a potent force of much-welcomed 21st century rock.

THE DANDY WARHOLS formed in Portland in 1994. The band are Courtney Taylor-Taylor, Peter Holmstrom, Zia McCabe and Brent DeBoer
They know about limbo too.

For a spectacular 18 years THE DANDY WARHOLS have had folks guessing – their chipper, upbeat sound swirling with a much darker undercurrent – like being at the funnest party ever and in the backroom someone overdoses.

THE DANDY WARHOLS released their debut ‘Dandy Warhols Rule Ok’ in 1995. Their next three albums ‘The Dandy Warhols Come Down’, ‘Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia and ‘Welcome to the Monkey House’ put the band in the spotlight with international hits ‘Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth’ and ‘Bohemian Like You’. In early 2012, THE DANDY WARHOLS released their new album entitled This Machine which front guy, Courtney Taylor-Taylor described as ‘stripped down, woody and extremely guitar centric.’

This November, Silversun Pickups and THE DANDY WARHOLS, will be riding in on the backs of their latest albums, to envelop audiences in Adelaide and Perth at their only Australian sideshows, in the dense swarm of guitars and emotions that’s made both bands famous.
