Soundwavers who failed to get tickets for the 2013 festival can breathe a sigh of relief today. There’s no need to risk scalping for tickets, as the organisers behind one of the biggest, bad-assest lineups of the new year will themselves have you covered.

After selling out in record-breaking time around the country due to its ridiculously-sized lineup, Soundwave 2013 have today announced the launch of an official Buy and Swap ticket program, which will be open for business later this week – available to signees of the Soundwave website and through Twitter.

According to a press release from the music festival, the new Buy and Swap scheme will be  “the SAFEST way to find a ticket for Soundwave 2013”, however buyers will have to act fast as spots upon release will be extremely limited, with more spots opening up only when more tickets are submitted.

Staff have warned they have no intent to publish when tickets are available on the system, so buyers are urged to be vigilant in their monitoring of the program. Registration on the site will set you back $10, which covers the Oztix admin fee for successfully matched tickets. Those who are unsuccessful in finding a match will be refunded the fee in February.

A few more caveats from Soundwave organisers to those seeking a ticket demonstrate how seriously they’re planning to enforce a fair trade scheme. Noting that “Preference will be given to buyers who do not have an existing Soundwave 2013 order,” while “sellers will need to submit an “intent to sell” email, including order details, and the program will take care of the rest.”

“If you are looking for tickets, this is your best bet,” urges Soundwave about their new program “but don’t publish this fact too much as it may hurt your chances at a ticket.”

As their press release today says, those stating that they’re looking for tickets on the festival’s official website will have their content removed, so best to look and queue quietly.

The idea being that not allowing fans to post to their social media and forum walls being to stop frauds who don’t have a ticket from taking advantage of potential festival-goers.

It’s good to see that Soundwave are stepping in to stop the scalpers from taking advantage of fans smitten by the hype of the massive festival lineup, but – as we discussed in our opinion piece – we do wonder how many are really being hurt by opportunistic ticket-sellers.

Kudos to Soundwave for giving fans one last chance to get rock’s proverbial golden ticket though, following on from Soundwave’s third addition of acts to its mammoth 2013 bill, the likes of Killswitch Engage and The Vandals joining a lineup that already fit to bursting.

From skate punk icons Blink 182 (who were confirmed this morning to play sideshows) The Offspring and Sum 41; as well as populist arena rock in Linkin Park, Garbage, and Paramore. Never mind some of the biggest names in metal, including Bullet For My Valentine, Stone Sour, Dragonforce and three of metal’s Big Four; Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax all locked in.
