The Plot, the new dance and electronic music festival from Cattleyard Promotions – the team behind Groovin The Moo, has teased plans of adding to its inaugural lineup.

A cityside spin-off to the popular regional music festival, set to take place at Sydney’s Big Top Luna Park and Melbourne’s Palace Theatre and Ding Dong Lounge this December, details of The Plot were first revealed in early September along with the first confirmed act for the The Plot’s lineup in Miami Horror.

Festival organisers have teased that a list of artists, name-checked by none other than Flume, will be added to The Plot’s bill, with a post on the festival’s Facebook page confirming “at least 6 Australian Producers who Flume is ‘excited to be working alongside’ will be on the lineup.”

The reference is to a public plug that the 22-year-old Flume made on social media for what he called the “Australian Sound”, just days before The Plot revealed their festival plans.

“Just wanted to say how proud I am to be a part of Australian Electronic music scene right now, and its not just me,” wrote Harley Streten, referring to a list of fellow emerging Aussie producers and electronic music-makers that combined, formed a new wave of producers; “we’ve got something pretty special going on here, we’ve got our own sound, and the worlds starting to take notice,” said Flume.

The accompanying list featured the likes of Cosmo’s Midnight, Wave Racer, Willow Beats, L D R U, Kilter, Touch Sensitive, George Maple, Motez, in=tonicollision, Charles Murdoch, Yahtzel, Elizabeth Rose, and Flume’s What So Not pal Emoh Instead. There was also a plug for the “two big dogs leading the charge,” as Flume put it, namely fellow collaborator Chet Faker, and Perth electronic producer Ta-Ku.

That means any six of those acts are up for speculation for The Plot’s first-ever festival bill. For our five cents, 21-year-old Sydneysider and “64 bit freak” Wave Rider is a good bet, considering he recently warmed up audiences as part of the Triple J House Party National Tour.

Electronic duo Willow Beats are also honing their live show as support for Owl Eyes on her national tour this month, which puts them in good stead for a festival slot.

However, one of the Flume-approved acts on the ‘Australian Sound’ playlist (which you can listen to below) has already been confirmed, with recent Future Classic signee Hayden James tweeting his place on The Plot’s lineup last week.

As for who else to expect for The Plot, the full lineup is due to be announced on 9th October 2013, considering that the already announced Miami Horror are Groovin The Moo alumni – appearing on the 2009 and 2010 lineups of the regional music festival – punters can turn to past Groovin The Moo bills to kickstart their lineup speculation.

Cattleyard Promotions’ expansion into the dance and electronic festival market comes shortly after Groovin The Moo’s expansion into South Australia, adding Oakbank Racecourse to its regional itinerary of the popular one-day event, as it announced the dates and venues for Groovin The Moo 2014.
