Megadeth Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves have been announced, playing a massive triple bill with fellow Soundwave-billed acts Volbeat and Newsted.

Following on from the third Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement beefing up the mighty hard and heavy festival bill, and the first official batch of 2014 Sidewaves landing last week, Megadeth now lead a metal triple-header for shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

Headlining these 2014 Sidewaves is legendary guitarist-vocalist Dave Mustaine and his roaring multi-platinum, heavy metal legend in Megadeth, bringing two of metal’s finest exports with him along for the ride.

Long suffering fans can now rejoice! For the first time ever Volbeat will be touring Australia as part of the massive Soundwave 2014 bill. Since forming in Copenhagen in 2000, Volbeat has been one of the most talked about bands around the world distilling the rebel spirits of metal, rockabilly, country & western, and rock’n’roll into a gas-guzzling beast of a sound!

The pursuit of heaviness has fuelled Jason Newsted for over 30 years. As an integral component of Metallica, Flotsam and Jetsam, Voivod, Ozzy Osbourne’s touring band, and countless other fan and critical favourites, he’s among the metal world’s most fearless adventurers.

Now, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and six-time Grammy winner is charting new territory—for the first time fronting his own band, the explosive power quartet Newsted. The band’s debut full-length, Heavy Metal Music, is short on pretence and long on crushing riffs just as you’d expect from its straight-up title.

The Megadeth, Volbeat, and Newsted Sidewaves join the previously announced co-headline shows from Rob Zombie & Korn, and Alter Bridge & Living Colour, as well as headline sideshows from Soundwave 2014 artists  Placebo and Stone Temple Pilots (featuring Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington).

Following on from the public dispute between Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah and Sevendust, after the later cancelled on their festival appearance, the Soundwave 2014 lineup grew with a third batch of bands announced last week.

The addition of Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, industrial rock stalwarts Filter, I Killed The Prom Queen, DARKC3LL, and four more heavy acts bringing the total Soundwave 2014 tally to whopping 95 bands, including festival headliners Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold.
