Future Music’s underage music festival, Good Life 2014, has done a favour for fellow music event Sondwave, announcing a change of venue for its Perth leg as it swaps sites with Soundwave.
Good Life was originally set to take place at Arena Joondalup on Monday 3rd March, but following news that Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah had confirmed a last-minute venue change away for his own hard and heavy festival to Joondalup, Good Life is now trading places and headed to the Claremont Showgrounds.
A press statement from festival organisers Future Music, Frontier Touring, and Mellen Events confirms that “Good Life Festival has agreed to move our Monday 3 March event in WA from our original site of Joondalup Arena to Claremont Showgrounds, with the support of the venue and the local Council.”
Adding: “We felt strongly about assisting Soundwave with the logistical issues they were faced with, as our finishing time is much earlier than Soundwave. This allows Soundwave to fully utilise Joondalup Arena and offer the experience they envision for their festival patrons.”
Those ‘logistical issues’ is a euphemism for Maddah’s ongoing battle with Claremont Council and their antagonistic attitudes to music festival hosted at Perth’s RAS Showgrdounds, making life difficult for Big Day Out and Soundwave over curfews and noise regulations, as well as turning their nose up at Stereosonic patrons last year after labelling them “the worst ever” in 2012. “We felt strongly about assisting Soundwave with the logistical issues they were faced with.”
Regardless of the council’s long running history with battling music events, the Good Life team emphasises that the “change in venue will not affect anything that Good Life has on offer… We’re very excited with the move, as Claremont Showgrounds is far more accessible for our patrons.”
The change in venue also allows for extra room for an additional stage, bolstering the Good Life 2014 lineup with the addition of two more artists.
Aussie club producer Uberjak’d and rising local electronic star Axen will now be added to the Perth lineup of Good Life, joining a bill that features acts drawn from its big brother’s Future 2014 lineup, including Deadmau5, the Grammy-scooping Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the world’s #1 DJ Hardwell, local electro stars Knife Party, and many more.
The rest of the Good Life 2014 dates will proceed as scheduled in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Along with the music, Good Life 2014 will provide an amusement park’s worth of entertainment, including free carnival rides, a crazy foam pit, a water theme park (hello 50m waterslide and foam pit!), 2 on 2 basketball and dodgeball comps, plus market stalls, chill out zones, a food court with lotsa healthy options and a whole lot more.
Parents can rest assured their kids are in safe hands: Sydney’s inaugural 2013 event was highly praised by Police, who applauded festival organisers and the excellent behaviour of punters. Measures include ID and bag checks, breathalysers, metal detectors and zero tolerance towards contraband or alcohol.
The Good Life Festival 2014 will continue the event’s proud tradition of having an impeccable safety record for its punters aged 13-17, with some of the strictest entry policies in the world ensuring patron safety – such as ID and bag checks, breathalysers, metal detectors and zero tolerance towards contraband or alcohol.
