On Tuesday, Triple J revealed the first details of its annual regional rock pilgrimage, the One Night Stand.

Having locked in the 2014 lineup and date, the national youth broadcaster has now revealed the destination.

Announced on air this morning, Triple J’s rural concert will this year take place at Mildura, at the border of Northwestern Victoria on Saturday 17th May.

Headed to Mildura to rock its population of over 31,000 (and however many more make the roadtrip) will be an all-Aussie bill featuring star MC Illy, the soulful Dan Sultan, indie popsters The Jungle Giants, grunge disciples Violent Soho, and electro trio RÜFÜS, as well as a yet-to-be announced Triple J Unearthed act.

All bands from Mildura and the surrounding area are eligible to play the One Night Stand, but need to upload their tunes to Triple J Unearthed before Thursday 3rd April to be in the running before the winner is revealed on Monday 14th April.

The proverbial grape capital of Australia (Mildura provides Victoria with 80% of its wine-making berries), the regional town will provide a unique setting for One Night Stand 2014, as steam and paddleboats lap up and down the might Murray river. Triple J have even put together a handy Guide To Mildura for visitors to enjoy its local attractions (just don’t look for the former Guinness World Record ‘longest bar’). “Triple J’s One Night Stand concerts are always a huge celebration for the lucky regional town we work with to host the event.”

Even if you can’t make the trip to rural Victoria, Triple J will be covering the free all-ages regional concert from all angles through its comprehensive media platforms.

The One Night Stand 2014 will be broadcasted live on radio (by presenters Matt Okine, Alex Dyson, and Zan Rowe) from 2pm on Saturday 17th May, as well live on television via ABC2 – then later on iView. The Triple J website will also be streaming the event, along with videos, photos, blogs, and interviews.

“Triple J’s One Night Stand concerts are always a huge celebration for the lucky regional town we work with to host the event,” says Triple J Manager Chris Scaddan. ”We’re proud to be taking such a diverse mix of Australian acts along in 2014.  But really, the One Night Stand is for everyone. Wherever you are on May 17, you can party with us in person, or live on the radio, TV and online.”

Mildura marks the third time that Triple J’s annual regional concert has hit Victoria, including the inaugural One Night Stand in 2004 – taking place at Natimuk – and 2009’s turn in Gippsland, featuring Hilltop Hoods, Miami Horror, Eskimo Joe, and The Butterfly Effect.

Last year’s event hosted in Dubbo, NSW featured Flume, The Rubens, Ball Park Music and Seth Sentry, while the 2012 One Night Stand brought a record 15,000 strong crowd despite the Dalby-hosted event being washed out by flash floods which canned the headline slot by The Temper Trap.

Previous One Night Stand locations have invited music lovers to road trip to regional towns such as Tumby Bay in South Australia (2011), to catch Birds Of Tokyo, The Jezabels, and Art Vs. Science, and Alice Springs (2010) to see John Butler Trio, Gyroscope, Bluejuice, and Megan Washington.

Other towns that have hosted the Triple J One Night Stand include Ayr, QLD (2005); Port Pirie, SA (20060); Cowra, NSW (2007); Collie, WA (2008); and Sale, VIC (2009) with various lineups including Eskimo Joe, Grinspoon, Hilltop Hoods, Shihad, The Living End, Silverchair, Midnight Juggernauts, Miami Horror, and even End Of Fashion (which is bitterly ironic given their recent stance on Triple J).
