It seems musos and music fans can’t get enough of their AFL, with this year’s finals series set to kick off this weekend and the announcement of a new ‘Live At The Finals’ series that carries on from the success of the ‘Live At The G’ series which saw the likes of Little Red, Airbourne and Stonefield perform live in front of crazed footy fans.

Eskimo Joe will kick the program off with a performance this weekend, and *ahem* Vanessa Amarosi is set to sing the national anthem at the Grand Final. Provided he doesn’t collapse in the meantime, pomp rocker Meat Loaf is also set to put in an appearance performing at that one day in September.

General Manager Strategy and Marketing Andrew Catterall said it is exciting to celebrate the finals with more music than ever before.“Traditionally, the AFL Grand Final has been the focus for music and entertainment, and certainly this year is no exception with top-selling international artist Meat Loaf announced as the headline performer. We’re also thrilled to announce we will be showcasing the Australian music industry each week of the finals in 2011.  Supporters will have the opportunity to not only attend a great game of football, but also a great live music performance.”

The ‘Live at the Finals’ performances will be confirmed each week alongside the finals fixture.

Artists confirmed to perform are:

Eskimo Joe
Absolutely 80’s (featuring Brian Mannix, Scott Carne, Sean Kelly and Dale Ryder)
Wolfgramm Sisters
Ross Wilson
Dan Sultan
Glenn Shorrock
Tim Rogers

‘Live at the Finals’ performances will commence approximately 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match start time.
