The Chic featuring Nile Rodgers Australian Tour 2013 has expanded after demand for tickets have seen the Melbourne date sell out.

In response, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, will play a second show at Billboard The Venue, Melbourne on Wednesday 11th December with just weeks until the highly anticipated tour kicks off.

The Wednesday 11th December show at Melbourne’s Billboard will also offer a Q&A session with the Chic ringleader himself, offering a unique opportunity to hear Nile Rodgers discuss his decades-long history of hit-making.

Rodgers will talk audiences through his riffs, lines, melodies, and production from Chic’s ‘Good Times’ to Sister Sledge’s ‘We Are Family’ to David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ and this year’s collaborations: Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and, most recently, his team-up with British UK duo Disclosure.

With an enormous list of hits and achievements to their name, there can be little argument that Chic was, and is, disco’s greatest band; working in a heavily producer-dominated field, they were most definitely a band. By the time they appeared in the late ’70s, they bucked the trend by stripping disco’s sound down to its basic elements. Their funky, stylish grooves had an organic sense of interplay that was missing from many of their overproduced competitors.

As Rodgers himself told Tone Deaf in a recent interview discussing his legacy, his collaborations (and even Aussie politics!): “No matter what I’ve done or who it’s with, I just make hits.”

Chic’s distinctive approach not only resulted in some of the finest dance singles of their time, but also helped create a template for urban funk, dance-pop, and even hip-hop in the post-disco era. Not coincidentally, Nile wound up as one of the most successful producers of the ’80s. Chic has been nominated for inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame eight times — 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 & 2013.

Nile Rodgers and Chic will also play Meredith Music Festival this December, performing at the Supernatural Amphitheatre only a year after rocking The Sup’ at Golden Plains Sixxx.

These will be shows to be talked about for years to come, do not miss your chance to ‘Freak Out!’
