After delaying their lineup by a week, Astral People and Yes Please have announced the return and 2013 lineup of OutsideIn, touted as a forward-thinking music festival to be held on September 21st in Sydney.

The inaugural OutsideIn took place at a sold out Factory Theatre in Marrickville. Hosting an ensemble of international & local heroes, it was the standout event of Sydney’s evolving festival scene.

FBi Radio agreed, awarding the event a coveted SMAC Award for Best Music Event of 2012. This year, OutsideIn will raise the bar, with an even bigger lineup – many of the internationals having never toured Australia before.

Headlining the event in 2013 is the enigmatic Zomby (UK), and Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs (US); both undoubtedly set to blow the roof off the main stage in 2013. Defining a decade of electronic music with releases on Hyperdub and 4AD, Zomby slated his legacy with his debut record ‘Where were U in ’92?’ which was a homage to the 90’s rave scene.

Freddie Gibbs is bringing his raw aesthetic to the factory floor. He’s already chalked up 10 mixtapes, a number of EPs and collaborations with Madlib and Curren$y. And with his official debut album due for release in July this underground hero’s poised to inflict damage.

Making its worldwide debut at OutsideIn, Astral People are also presenting Since I Left You. A celebration and re-interpretation of The Avalanches’ seminal, eponymous album. Personally given the blessing from The Avalanches themselves, the project is comprised of Astral People’s premier roster, who will re-create one of Australia’s most prized, contemporary records.

The incredible lineup of international talent is supported by some of Australia’s most exciting locals, including: Sydney twins Cosmo’s Midnight, Adelaide’s bearded beat guru Oisima, the Melbourne’s collaborative project between the ever charming Andras Fox & Oscar Key Sung and the loveable Sydney-sider Rainbow Chan.

This years festival has begun with a fair bit of controversy following the launch of a new music festival from rival Fuzzy which seemed to take a number of liberties from OutsideIn’s platform. Astral People accused Fuzzy of blatantly ripping off their concept, look, and logo. Astral People launched OutsideIn festival last year as a boutique electronic music festival featuring the likes of Flume, Smoke DZA, Oliver Tank, and HTRK.
