We now know that Violent Soho’s eagerly anticipated follow-up to breakthrough record Hungry Ghost is called WACO, a reference to the Texas town that set the stage for a tragic stand-off between the members of a controversial cult and armed government agents.
But before the band settled on that title, they took to social media on the day they began recording sessions for what ultimately became WACO to ask fans for their input, fielding title suggestions from their followers and then, of course, immediately regretting it.
It wasn’t long before cheeky fans who just couldn’t help themselves were throwing up suggestions like “butt pickle”, “Hungrier Ghost”, “Brendan”, “Cosmic Greg”, “The Best of Neil Diamond”, and our personal favourite, “Siolent Voho”. Basically, the band got what they asked for.
Fellow Australian rockers Parkway Drive apparently didn’t learn from Violent Soho’s move and recently took to social media to announce a new campaign to promote their upcoming tour: #NameParkwaysTour. As you can probably guess, fans are being asked to name their new tour.
The band are set to announce an Aussie tour on Friday, 8th April and are asking fans to share a supplied image on Instagram with the hashtag #NameParkwaysTour and their suggestion for what the tour ought to be called. If yours is chosen, you get two tickets to the gig of your choice.
It took exactly .8 seconds for fans to swarm various social media channels — primarily Twitter and Instagram — with their own tongue-in-cheek suggestions for what the Byron Bay outfit should name their tour. Check out some of the highlights below and stay tuned for the band’s tour dates soon.
