The Periphery Australian Tour 2014 has been announced, with the Bethesda, Maryland band returning Down Under with special guests Animals As Leaders.

Periphery has defied the boundaries of conventionality, bringing new life to the metal scene with their powerful brand of djent. Their meteoric rise to the upper echelon of the metal world will be in full display when they return to Australia in January/February 2014.

The six-piece were last in Australia earlier this year as part of the massive Soundwave 2013 lineup and its Soundwave Touring that is bringing the djent-leman back to our shores.

Periphery were in the country off the back of their engagingly complex release, Periphery II, which our Tone Deaf reviewer said “may just might be one of the best releases this year, and certainly the most diverse.”

Featuring the stellar guitar work of Misha Mansoor, Jake Bowen, and Mark Holcomb, Periphery’s live show gravitates around epic shifts in style and mood as vocalist Spencer Sotelo soars over the chugging rhythm section of bassist Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood and drummer Matt Halpern.

Joining as special guests on the Periphery Australian Tour 2014 is Animals As Leaders, who were hailed as “the future of creative, heavy virtuoso guitar playing” by none other than master axe-wielder Steve Vai himself.

With two critically acclaimed albums of grooving instrumental progressive rock, 2009’s self-titled LP and 2011’s Weightless, under their belt, Animals As Leaders will provide the perfect support to the brutal attack of Periphery.

Don’t miss these two massive forces as the join together for the djent tour of the year!
