Famous vinyl-lover Jack White is doing his absolute best to make sure the format’s now-billion-dollar industry remains just that.

His own Third Man Records announced its plans for a 10,000-square-foot vinyl record pressing plant in November 2015, but the space at the back of his retail outlet in Detroit’s Cass Corridor remained an empty promise… until now.

White’s Third Man Pressing opens on February 25 with a launch party at Third Man featuring live music, exclusive merch and pressers, including the White Stripes’ eponymous debut album, their sophomore release, De Stijl, the Johnson Family Singers’ Don’t Let the Devil Ride and a split 12″ LP from Destroy All Monsters and Xanadu.

That’s not even the best bit. According to the official press release (get it?) Third Man Pressing will bring with it 50 new jobs. They’ll need a full team on hand; the plat is capable of creating 5,000 records every 8 hours.

The facility is environmentally conscious as it uses a closed-loop, chilled-water system that “maximises water sustainability.” And it features “eight of the first newly built presses built in 35 years.”

And, as we know already, they’re getting in at just the right time:
