Sydney’s Andrew Samuel has just released his beautifully restrained sophomore EP, Hissing Bitterness.

Co-produced with Ryan Brennan of Phantastic Ferniture and described as described as “a kind of proud ode to loneliness, fear and murky secrets”, the record has an interesting conceit: every song is composed with only two chords and the bare minimum instrumentation, laying the lyrics and rich vocals bare. Meanwhile, patches of reverb were hunted out around Andrew’s house, with microphones scattered throughout.

Andrew has just headed out on a national tour with Kahlo, dates below – one to catch in an intimate venue, without a doubt.
