Hailing from the Northern Beaches of Sydney psych/reggae-rock band Ocean Alley have been making some serious waves of late, and with the release of their new upcoming sophomore EP titled In Purple – those waves will no doubt soon become a tsunami.

Over the past 12 months the band has toured the country four times. Those tours have included a slew of sold-out shows – most notably an all-ages matinee performance at the Metro Lair, which sold-out six weeks prior to the show date. Not showing any signs of slowing down the band have announced an EP tour that includes nine dates across the East Coast throughout September and October and a spot at Lost Paradise Festival, alongside Jamie XX, Angus & Julia Stone, The Jungle Giants and Four Tet, which takes place over New Years Eve on the NSW Central Coast.

Drawing inspiration from a hugely varied musical history, the band’s most recent single ‘Muddy Water’ features a down-tempo reggae-roots groove likened to Blue King Brown melded with the space-tinged surf-rock vibes of The Growlers. To celebrate the EP release, the guys have given us an early stream of the record which you can check out below. If you like what you hear be sure to visit the band’s Facebook page and catch them when they roll into your town.
