Local alt-folk legends Tinpan Orange are today unveiling the stunning video for their delicate new single ‘Rich Man’.
Seasonsed performers, ‘Rich Man’ defines the new sonic journey for Tinpan Orange and one that has informed their upcoming album Love is a Dog.
The simmering cautionary tale of ‘Rich Man’ is told through Emily’s gentle falsetto soaring over her tremolo soaked ’64 Gretsch guitar, Jesse’s warm backing vocals and Alex Burkoy’s striking violin performance.
“When I first heard the final mix, I had the feeling that it could have been used as a Bond theme if David Lynch was directing,” says guitarist Jesse Lubitz.
Directed by Jam Nawaz of Jam Design (Remi, Tully on Tully) the clip depicts mysterious hands thrusting fur, gold and pearls upon a wealthy housewife (played by Emily Lubitz), until the very end, where she removes all in defiance, unadorned and free.
To celebrate their upcoming album Love is a Dog (out April 8th) the band will be embarking on a huge national tour kicking off at the Fairbridge Folk Festival (WA) on April 15, moving through Tasmania, Melbourne, Mullumbimby, Brisbane, Sydney, Darwin, Fremantle and finishing up in Adelaide on June 5 – for the full dates and info visit www.tinpanorange.com.
