Melbourne’s much loved Alt. Country duo The Weeping Willows are today delivering 10 brooding new cautionary tales with stunning sophomore effort titled Before Darkness Comes A-Callin’.
The second, self-produced LP from partners in life, love, and song Andy Wrigglesworth and Laura Coates, this record also marks the fulfilment of the pair’s lifelong dream of recording in the United States.
The moody, sophisticated collection of folk gems, Before Darkness Comes A-Callin’ is a follow on from the duo’s much-admired debut Till The North Wind Blows (2012). “The album was written over the three years since Till The North Wind Blows, primarily in our dimly-lit back room, in between two visits to the Southern states of America,” Laura explains.
The record is a stunning evolution for a band who don’t take their musical craft lightly, an impressive masterclass in songwriting and storytelling Before Darkness Comes A-Callin’ is definitely an album worth spending some time with.
