Synthpop favourites Passion Pit are headed to Australia this month to play the sold out Splendour In The Grass and headline Adelaide’s Spin Off festival, as well as playing their own headline shows in Sydney, Perth, and two shows in Melbourne to accomodate an under 18s gig at the HiFi Bar.

Now the deal just got even sweeter with the addition of PVT as opening act for Passion Pit’s Australian Tour. The Sydney-via-London trio have been honing live show from touring their latest slice of experimentally minded electropop Homosapien, which our Tone Deaf reviewer awarded a 7.5/10 noting “the steely pulses and thrilling trances of their previous output aren’t absent, but instead [PVT] hardwire that same digital palette into accomplished new directions.”

Passion Pit is the dynamic musical mission of Michael Angelakos, the electronic wünderkind best known for his complex and multi-layered pop songs. Angelakos, who debuted with his notoriously charming Chunk Of Change EP in 2008, released Passion Pit’s debut full length Manners in 2009 and in July 2012, released its highly anticipated follow-up Gossamer – which scored an 8/10 from our Tone Deaf reviewer, calling it “an album of lush, hyperactive stadium-sized electro-pop.”

Acclaimed for their unabashedly danceable live performances, Passion Pit are bringing their explosive party to Australia and New Zealand where they will perform tracks from Gossamer as well as fan favorites from both Manners and Chunk Of Change.

Squeezing in an under 18’s only show in Melbourne at The Hifi, this will be the first time Melbourne under-agers have had a chance to catch Passion Pit live since their Australian debut at the 2010 Big Day Out.
