It’s that time of year again folks, break out your piggy banks and smash them open, because Record Store Day is here once again on April 22nd. Oh, and if you’re interested in just how long you’ve been spending the third Saturday of April camped out in front of your favourite record store to pick up the hottest items, this year marks the tenth anniversary of the music lover’s holiday.

Anniversaries aside, the best part of Record Store Day is being able to get your hands on the exclusive releases for the day. Each year, bands the world over use the holiday as an opportunity to release a special edition, limited edition, reissue, or oddity as part of the festivities.

As we recently reported, one of the highlights for this year’s RSD is the release of two rare David Bowie albums. With the a 3xLP live record, and a reissue of an ultra-rare Bowie promo, fans of the legend will be in music heaven.

Today, it’s also been announced that the US will score new pressings of Prince, two 7″ records by The Smiths, and various other special releases by Motorhead, Fleetwood Mac, The Animal Collective, The Flaming Lips, AIR, Bullet For My Valentine, Hendrix, The Cure, The War On Drugs and the list goes on.

You can check out the full list of special US releases here and the UK here, and to see the full selection of records and stores taking part in Australia, keep an eye on the local Record Store Day website.
