Royal Blood made a bit of an error in only playing a single sideshow in Sydney along with their appearance at this year’s Splendour in the Grass, which sold out in an instant and left the rest of the country wondering what was up.
Thankfully they’ll be back to rectify that as soon as they can, with Frontier Touring and I OH YOU announcing the U.K. duo are heading back early next year for another run of dates across Australia and New Zealand.
Royal Blood won Australia over back in 2015 with a killer acoustic rendition of Cold War Kids’ ‘Hang Me Up To Dry’ on Like A Version, although they may have fallen out of favour with Nickelback fans after starting a Twitter beef with the band last year, and taking a few hits in the process.
We chatted with the band ahead of their appearance at Splendour, talking about their love of Australia and how to write a rock song as a two-piece, and the band are keen to get back over here for more gigs.
“Can’t wait to come back over next year and do some bigger shows & get out to places we’ve never played before,” they say. “We hope you’re enjoying the new album & we’re excited to play you these new songs. Hope to see you there!”
That album, How Did We Get So Dark?, scored them a UK number one and hit number four on the ARIA charts, so there’ll be plenty of anticipation as they finally hit new locations like Perth and Brisbane next year.
